Some families may still have a treasured pair of heirloom moccasins. The artists ancestors were known to welcome babies by gifting a pair of tiny moccasins. Children also enjoyed the “Indian Ice Cream” made from Soopalalie berries (Buffalo / Soap berries).
Endemic flowers clockwise: Watercolour; White and yellow moccasin flowers (cypripedium) fairy slippers (Calypso) and pink sparrows egg orchid. Beaded flowers; Blanket flower, soopalalie berries, bluebells, moccasin flowers (lady slippers.)
