Traditional Metis Beading ***SOLD OUT***

Age: 16yrs and up
Known as ‘The Flower Beadwork People’, the Metis have long been distin- guished for their beaded art, using it to adorn clothing, tools, baby moss- bags, horse saddle pads and dog tuppies. The artwork of Lisa Shepherd, Metis Artisan, was recognized internationally at the 2010 Olympics and now resides at the Gabriel Dumont Institute Museum. Lisa will share the lessons she has gathered from her studies across Canada. Working alongside Lisa, you will design your own traditional beadwork layout and then actualize the beading onto a Melton wool base. The finished beadwork may be framed, used to adorn any item you choose, or used to create your own pair of moccasins (watch for the Moccasin Making class this Spring!). Fee: $180/2
