Metis Traditional Dance for Youth
Age: 6-17yrs
Metis traditional dance is one of our historic dances, influenced by both Celtic and Aboriginal dance. High energy and upbeat, this dance literally grew up in Canadian kitchen parties. In this class, youth will work as a team as they learn fast-paced reels and choreographies that are still used in competition today. Participants can look forward to learning first and second change jig steps, the Red River Jig and group dances including the Reel of 8, Li Dance du Crochet and Duck Dance. The final class will be a performance for family and friends.

Hello, Vanessa.
Thank you for your question. I’m sorry but I don’t have a DVD. Gabriel Dumont Institute has a DVD called Steps in Time, which is quite good. Here is the link to the catalogue. They also have some good fiddle music CD’s for dancing to. Tell your daughter to keep on dancing whenever she feels the urge – it could be her gift.
